Can a webmaster see if you use software to capture streamed audio?

I paid for and am taking an online course. The course materials are playable online only but after problems with playback online and poor service from the website I would like to just download the audio files using an addon like Video DownloadHelper and listen to the course on my mp3 player. I don't think the website wants you to do that but I'm just getting no where with the current set up. If I download these audio files with video downloadhelper will the website know that I have done that?

Many download applications identify themselves to the webserver and can be detected (and blocked) easily. Capturing the audio stream on your PC is almost undetectable, with the same (poor) quality as streaming directly from the website. Your choice to pick one!

So you ask us to help you with illegally downloading / recoring the online course?

I'm not sure if this is the best website to help you with this.... As you are trying to do something illegally
