De beta van Avast 6 is al weer public gemaakt. Een van de grootste veranderingen is de AutoSandbox feature, die ook in de gratis versie beschikbaar is. Bij het starten van nieuwe executables wordt aan de hand van verschillende factoren bepaald hoe verdacht het bestand is. Als het verdacht genoeg is komt er een pop-up met de suggestie om het gesandboxed uit te voeren.

Main changes/improvements:
- AutoSandbox – suspicious programs will be optionally run sandboxed
- avast! WebRep – browser plugin for website reputation rating; a combination of data from our virus lab and community voting
- Script Shield now even in the Free AV
- Site Blocking now even in the Free AV
- SafeZone – a special virtualized area for sensitive transactions (e.g. secure online banking) (paid products only)
- Restore factory settings command (Settings -> Troubleshooting)
- Automatic actions in the boot-time scan
- New compression method in the installer makes the setup packages about 20% smaller.
- Script Shield now functional even with IE8/IE9 Protected Mode
- Sidebar gadget
- Improved stability/compatibility of the Behavior Shield
- Improvements in the avast! sandbox

How to install it
Just run the setup executable (links above). This version needs to be installed from scratch, i.e. updating from a previous version of avast won't work. This will be fixed relatively soon - however, for now, the only option is to really uninstall the version you're using (if any), reboot, and install this beta.
Also, if you have already used a previous beta of the standalone WebRep, it's better to uninstall it before installing avast 6.

Ik heb hem eventjes getest en ik moet zeggen dat de 1e Beta er goed uit ziet met al zijn nieuwe functies , hij is alleen iets trager nog als de 5 versie maar verder werkt hij best fijn al wel.

De Sandbox feature zoals hier uitgelegd zit ook in de Comodo Internet Security software sinds geruime tijd. Maar toch goed dat een gratis AV pakket dit nu ook aanbiedt. Wat dat betreft, lof voor Avast! :-)

Die zijn niet hetzelfde, Comodo heeft een policy based sandbox, dus de gesandboxde files worden wel op het echte systeem uitgevoerd, maar wordt toegang tot kritieke en andere systeemonderdelen ontzegt. Die van Avast is meer als Sandboxie, dus een losse virtuele omgeving.
